Prof. Dr. Jahangir Alam Khan

Prof. Dr. Jahangir Alam Khan is a renowned agricultural economist with specialization in agricultural and rural development, agribusiness, agricultural policy, trade liberalization and comparative advantage in agriculture, non-government organizations in rural development, income distribution and poverty. He has 40 years experience in research and teaching. He has published 152 books and research papers on agricultural and rural development. Currently he is holding the position of Vice-Chancellor, University of Global Village (UGV), Barisal.

He has received prestigious Ekushey Padak in 2020. He was a freedom fighter in 1971. Dr. Alam is the former President of Bangladesh Agricultural Economists’ Association. In addition to publishing a large number of research papers and books at home and abroad, he edited a number of scientific journals and workshop/ seminar proceedings.

He received several awards including the Presidential Award for Agricultural Development in 1980 and Dr. S.D Choudhuri Gold Medal given by the Bangladesh Academy of Agriculture for his outstanding contribution to Agricultural and Rural Economics in 2004. He is a life member of Bangladesh Economic Association, Bangla Academy, Asiatic Society and Krishibid Institution Bangladesh. He is also a columnist.

Barrister Miti Sanjana

Barrister Miti Sanjana is a corporate lawyer and the partner of LEGAL COUNSEL is one of the leading law firms of Bangladesh located at the heart of Dhaka City. She is also a columnist and an eminent media personality. Prof. Dr. Allan Bird

Allan Bird is the Associate Vice President for International Affairs and Professor of Business at Pacific University. Prior to his arrival at Pacific he held the Darla and Frederick Brodsky Trustee Professor in Global Business at Northeastern University for ten years from 2009 to 2019. Previously he was the Ei’ichi Shibusawa-Seigo Arai Professor of Japanese Studies and also served as Director of the International Business Institute and Director of the International MBA program in the College of Business at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. 

He has held Visiting Professor positions at Columbia University, Rikkyo University, Monterey Institute for International Studies, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Finland, Osaka International University, and Japan’s National Self Defense Academy. He has also served on the faculty of the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication. He teaches courses in global leadership development, intercultural management, and intercultural and global leadership assessment.

Dr. Bird received his BA in Special Studies from California State University, Fresno, his MA in Comparative Culture and International Business from Sophia University in Japan, and his PhD in Organizational Science from the University of Oregon, where he was named Doctoral Student of the Year in 1986 and was a Fulbright Graduate Award recipient.

He has authored, co-authored or edited 9 books, 65 refereed journal articles, and 44 book chapters. His most recent co-edited book, Global Leadership: Research, Practice and Development (3rd Edition) was published in 2017. The second edition won an Award of Merit for Research Scholarship and was a finalist for the University of San Diego’s Leadership Book of the Year Award. His articles have appeared in leading scholarly outlets, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of World Business, and the Academy of Management Executive

His professional service includes tenures as President of the Association of Japanese Business Studies, as well as lengthy service on the Association’s Executive Committee. He was formerly chair of the Careers Division, Academy of Management, and has served on the Executive Committee of the International Management Division. 

Multiple times he has served as a track chair for the Academy of International Business’s annual meetings. He was a key architect and founding member of the International Organization Network (ION), a network of academics and managers from around the world committed to increasing the quality and impact of research on people in organizations. He was also a key architect, and chair of the Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education (CUIBE), a collaborative effort among more than 45 universities.

Tana Hensley

Mrs. Tana Hensley has a BA degree in Education and has been involved in adult education for over 40 years. After completing her Degree at Morehead State University, Mrs. Hensley taught high school, before beginning a lengthy career in state government where she completed quality reviews over the work of 42 tax auditors. She frequently conducted training sessions for Tax Auditing and use of the state’s Tax software system. She also supervised the adjudication of Unemployment Insurance claims and trained Disputed Claims Investigators in best practices and meeting State and Federal standards of quality adjudication. After retiring from the State of Kentucky, she joined a software firm, writing specifications for software that detects fraud in Unemployment claims, with an emphasis in cyber- attacks by foreign and domestic organized crime. She wrote the specifications, tested the software and travelled all over the USA to train others how to use the software tool.

Morjina Ahmed      

Ms. Morjina Ahmed was born in Narayanganj, Dhaka. She lost her eye sight due to Small Pox when she was three years old. She started her schooling at Baptist Blind School, Mirpur, Dhaka. Then she attended Badrunnesa Mohila College. For higher studies she went to the University of Dhaka majoring in Philosophy and completed her Honors in 2001 and Masters in 2003.

A typically visually challenged person in a society like ours faces a lot of challenges in schools, jobs, businesses, society at large, etc. Ms. Ahmed was no exception to that. There were not enough books or materials to study for the visually challenged people. She faced challenges attending classes, copying lectures, taking notes etc. Though her teachers were very cooperative yet there was one big problem, the teachers used to give out notes to the students orally and the students had to write it down, in this case all the students used to finish writing faster than her because she used to write in Braille. Then she requested the teacher that she would rather take notes after class than slowing down the ongoing class. Some friends used to help her in these matters, but not all. She still remembers them very much and is grateful to them.

Since then she decided that she wouldn’t do any jobs but she would do something of her own that would also help others. She consulted with some of her good friends and they agreed to form an institution called “Disable Welfare Society” formed in 2005. She has been running this NGO from 2005 in Mohammadpur, Shekhertek (Road no: 3, House no: 39). Here, she formed another wing of it called “Inclusive”, where disable and non-disable children who are financially struggling for education are given scopes to study. At the moment they got 20 children in this wing who are being given the pre-primary education. They provide many things including Braille books to the children. In addition to being the founder of the organization she is the Executive Director of it. It has a Board for policy guidelines and compliance matters.  

She has been running this institution with a very tight budget and also have not received any big form of help from any private institutions or govt. sources. She has a dream to upgrade the level of education up to at least 5th grade. She is under constant stress how to procure more Braille papers and buy printers. To keep Braille machines cool ACs are very much necessary, but the school doesn’t have any. She even needs more space for her institution. The building is also rented.It is refreshing to know that some students by this time have graduated from universities and looking for jobs. 

Ms. Morjina Ahmed is a very environment conscious person and thus recently has received a trade license under the trade name of “Blue Oceans” which is selling only Jute made products such as ladies purse, decoration items etc. at the moment.  

Frederick Thomas Nichols

Frederick Thomas Nichols is a Flight Operations executive, flight training professional and forty-three-year professional pilot with extensive trans-oceanic experience and regional experience in the international airline industry, focused on Central and Southern Asia.
